CARRE PLANTAGENET - ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM

General description

Le Mans’ museum of archaeology. The aptly-named Carré Plantagenêt has square-shaped courtyards and tells the story of the local Plantagenet dynasty. The museum relates the history of the town and the surrounding area in 5 chapters, from the first human occupation in prehistoric times, up to the charter granted to the “good town” by Louis XI in 1481. Follow one of the two fun yet scientific routes through the museum depending on how much time you have. The essential tour is a quick chronological visit with the main objects and models. The deeper tour is a longer chronological and topical visit with scenography, interactive totems and books on archaeology.
